Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Have to Register with Whisky Auction House Before I Can Sell or Bid?

Yes – Our registration process is very straight forward. Head over to our Registration Page and you can sign up there. There is a one-off registration fee of £5 (plus VAT). This is to ensure that everyone using Whisky Auction House to buy or sell their whisky is genuine.

Can You Provide Valuations for My Bottles?

Yes – as part of our service we offer free valuations of all bottles you are looking to put to auction. You can request a valuation via our Contact Us page. We require that you send pictures of your bottles to allow us to provide the most accurate valuation.

How Does the Online Auction Work?

Sellers from around the globe contact us at Whisky Auction House and register their bottles through our website. Once the bottles arrive to us, they go through various rounds of approval and verification. Once we have deemed the bottles fit for auction they will be placed in our upcoming auction. At the end of the auction the highest bidder on each lot (provided that the reserve on a lot has been met), will then be able to check out and make payment. The bottle will then be shipped to the buyer.

My package has arrived in a damaged condition, what do I do?

Whisky Auction House accepts no responsibility for any damage once the bottle leaves our premises. When you receive your item, and you believe the packaging has been damaged you should contact the courier company. There is an option on our website for insuring your bottles in transit.

Your bottle/s will be securely packaged using protective bottle bags, bubble wrap and double walled boxes.

I want to get a minimum price for my bottle, is this possible?

Yes this is possible, you will have to put on a reserve which will cost £5 excluding VAT. If the minimum price is not reached, the bottle will not be sold. Be aware that all reserve prices will be shown for transparency.

Do you offer storage for my lots?

Yes, Whisky Auction House provides a storage option for 90 days free of charge (subject to availability). Thereafter charges of £1+VAT apply per day, per lot/bottle.

This will mean you can combine bottles from multiple auctions in one shipment and save on shipping costs.

Also, if you then decide that you do not want the bottle/s you can relist them on another upcoming auction.

How should I package my bottles for sending to Whisky Auction House?

Your bottles should be securely packaged using protective bottle bags, bubble wrap, and double-walled boxes.

If protective bottle bags are unavailable, ensure that your bottles are packed upright in a sturdy cardboard box and secured with ample bubble wrap, filling any voids with cushioning material. Close the box, affix the shipping label if necessary, and seal the edges and corners with adhesive tape. Labeling the package as "fragile" is also advisable.

Please note that we cannot accept any bottles which are open, leaking or have damaged seals.
